Faculty
Dr. Tsang received his BSc degree in mathematics and physics from the University of Winnipeg in Canada. He then obtained his BEng and MASc degrees both in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia (now Dalhousie University) in Canada. He also received his PhD degree in electrical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
His current research interests include next-generation Internet, P2P video streaming applications, wireless multimedia networks, cognitive radio networks, cloud computing and smart grids.
Research Staff
Lei received the B.Eng. degree in communication engineering from Liaoning Technical University, China, in Jun 2017. He then received his Ph.D. degree from Fuzhou University, Fuzhou, China, in Jun 2023. His research interests include tensor theory, network performance monitoring and the Internet of Things.
Students
Yuanyuan received her B.Eng. degree in Information Engineering, and M.S degree in Information and Telecommunications Engineering from Xidian University, Xi’an, China in June 2018 and June 2021, respectively. She joined HKUST as a PhD student in August 2021, under the supervision of Professor Danny Tsang.
Ying received her B.Eng. degree in Electronic Engineering and Information Science from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Hefei, China in June 2018. She joined HKUST as a PhD student in August 2018, under the supervision of Professor Danny Tsang.
Her current research interests lie in the theory of online learning, online algorithms and online games.
Lufei received her B.Eng. degree (first honor) in Information Engineering, and MPhil degree in Electronic Engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Before joining HKUST(GZ) as a PhD student, she was a development engineer at Shenzhen Research Institute of Big Data. Her current research interests include object detection and prompt learning.
Yiyi received her B.Eng. degree in Communication Engineering, and Master degree in Information and Communication Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China in 2020 and 2022, respectively. She is currently a PhD student at HKUST(GZ) under the supervision of Professor Danny Tsang and Professor Vincent Lau. Her research interests include deep learning and wireless communication.
Xuan received her BEng degree in Automation from Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan, China in June 2019. She also obtained her master’s degree in Control Science and Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in June 2022.
Her current research interests include smart grids, energy management, unit commitment problem and machine learning for combinatorial optimization.
Guanjie received his BEng degree in Software Engineering from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, China, in June 2018. He graduated with an MSc in Artificial Intelligence from Australian National University in Dec 2020. Before he joined the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) as a Ph.D. student, he was a full-time Deep Learning Algorithm Engineer.
His current research interests include Few-shot learning, multi-modality learning, and Generative AI.
Jingwei received his BEng degree in Computer Science from Xidian University, Xi’an, China in June 2021. He worked in linux operating system development and security solution development in 2021-2023. He has professional skills in building applications for linux, android, web and embedded platforms.
His current research interests include the internet of things and wireless communication.
Zhiyan received his M.S. degree in engineering from Guangdong University of Technology, Guangzhou, China, in 2022. He is currently a Ph.D student at HKUST(GZ) under the supervision of Professor Danny Tsang and Professor Ying Cui. His current research interests focus on wireless communication and Bayesian inference.
Tingxi received his master’s degree in Communication Systems from Sorbonne – Pierre and Marie Curie University in 2023. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree at HKUST(GZ) under the supervision of Professor Danny Tsang and Professor Frankie Chiu. His research focuses on wireless communication and wireless power transfer, evolves through physical layer engineering.
Zhishen received his M.S. degree in Computer Science from University of Macau, Macau, China, in 2023. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D degree at HKUST(GZ) under the supervision of Professor Danny Tsang and Professor Wei Han. His current research interests focus on simultaneous wireless information and power transfer, edge computing, and dynamic wireless power transfer.
Chengyu received his B.Eng. degree in Information Engineering from Southeast University, Nanjing, China in June 2019. He is currently a PhD student at HKUST under the supervision of Professor Danny Tsang and Professor Vincent Lau.
His current research interests focus on edge caching.
Jin is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree at HKUST(GZ) supervised by Prof. Danny H. K. TSANG and Prof. Songze Li. Before his Ph.D. study, he received his master’s degree from Northeast University, Shenyang. His main research interests include federated learning, AI security, large model training, and data mining.
Wenhan received his B.Eng. degree in Information Engineering from Southeast University, Nanjing, China in June 2020, and his M.Phil. degree from HKUST under the supervision of Professor Danny Tsang in August 2023. He is now a Ph. D. student at HKUST (GZ) under the supervision of Professor Danny Tsang.
His current research interests focus on edge computing and intelligent reflecting surface.
Yulan Yuan received her master degree in Information and Communication Engineering from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China, in 2022. She is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree at HKUST(GZ) under the supervision of Professor Vincent Lau and Professor Danny Tsang. Her research interests are in the areas of stochastic optimization and federated learning.
Taoning received his Double Honor’s Bachelor’s Degree from University of Leeds and Southwest Jiaotong University in 2021, majoring in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He then obtained a Master Degree in Telecommunications from HKUST, CWB in 2022. Now he is pursuing a Ph.D. degree at HKUST(GZ), under the supervision of Professor Danny Tsang.
His current researches focus on Wireless Power Transfer and applications.
Ziru received his BSc degree in mathematics and applied mathematics from Tianjin University in 2021. He is currently working toward an M. Phil degree at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), Guangzhou, China. His research interests include internet of things, machine learning, and motion capture.
Tailin received his B.Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering and Automation Engineering from Sichuan University, Chengdu, China in June 2018, and his Master degree in Electrical Engineering from South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China in June 2021.
He joined HKUST as a Ph.D. student in August 2021, under the supervision of Professor Danny Tsang and Professor Jun Zhang.
His current research interests lie in Federated Learning, Decentralized Learning, and Smart Grids.
